It will be interesting to see if they may still be viable for PS4 titles on the new hardware, however. Though it does now specifically state otherwise, PS3-only sticks will almost certainly not work on PS5. Players may recall that PS3 arcade sticks and controllers did not work natively with the PS4 though that was quickly bypassed with a developer-created driver to add backwards compatibility, and luckily almost every major fighting game included the feature this generation.
Outside of those specialty peripherals, the DualShock 4 itself is not compatible with PS5 games though they can still be used to play PS4 games on the system.
